Find your weak topics before the exam
How Weakness Packs turn the questions you miss into a study plan.
The short answer. Your weak topics are the ones you keep getting wrong when you answer questions on them. You can find them by hand: answer questions on each lecture, write down every miss, and group the misses by topic. Recall Engine does the grouping for you from the questions you answer on your own lectures. A Weakness Pack then reteaches each weak topic from the lecture pages your mistakes came from.

How Recall Engine finds your weak topics
It uses one kind of evidence: the questions you got wrong. It does not guess from time spent or pages opened.
- Make questions from your lecture. Upload a lecture PDF or PowerPoint and generate SBAs or MCQs from the pages you pick.
- Answer them in the app. Each wrong answer is saved with the question's topic and the lecture pages it came from.
- Open Weakness Pack. It lists your lectures with weak spots. The lecture with the most wrong answers comes first. Each row shows how many mistakes it has to fix and how many topics and pages they cover.
- Pick lectures and build. Choose lectures yourself or select the top ones. Each lecture gets its own pack.
How a topic counts as weak
- Misses are grouped by topic. Repeat misses on one topic count as one weak topic. A single topic cannot crowd out the rest.
- Topics you missed more often come first. Ties go to the most recent miss.
- One pack teaches up to 20 distinct weak topics.
- The pack reads the lecture pages your mistakes cite, up to 30 pages. When there are more, the most cited pages win. When no mistake records a page, it reads from the start of the lecture.
- When a question has no clear topic, the opening words of the question stand in for one.
What a Weakness Pack contains
| Part | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Overview | One sentence that names your main weak areas |
| Weak areas | For each topic: the mistake pattern, a correction written from your lecture, and its source pages |
| Corrective practice | New single best answer questions on the same weak topics. Each one explains the reasoning and why every option is right or wrong. |
| Common mix-ups | The mix-ups behind your misses and how to tell the options apart |
| Study plan | Concrete next steps tied to your weak areas |
You answer the corrective questions in the app. You can also open the whole pack as a PDF.
Every part is written from two inputs alone: your lecture pages and your wrong answers. When you picked one option over another, the pack names that confusion. It does not claim to know why you picked it. One wrong answer is treated as one data point. It names a pattern once the same distinction is missed more than once.
Cost, plans, and limits
- Price. A Weakness Pack costs 6 credits. The price is flat. It does not change with the number of pages.
- Plans. Weakness Packs come with Recall Plus and Recall Max. Accounts without one of these get a trial pack paid with their credits.
- When you are charged. If a generation fails, you are not charged. Credits are taken only after a finished set is saved to your account. A run that does not finish costs nothing.
- Batch size. You can start packs for up to 5 lectures in one click.
- Archived lectures. Upload an archived lecture again before you build a pack from it.
A study tip with evidence: read the why
A 2020 study in Perspectives on Medical Education gave 64 students at two medical schools single best answer tests one week apart. It compared feedback that explains the answer with plain right or wrong feedback. The authors report that "response-oriented and conceptually focused feedback were superior to traditional right/wrong feedback for both types of transfer tasks and in both immediate and final retention test performance."
They conclude that "Right/wrong feedback appears to have limited potential to augment test-enhanced learning." This is one study over one week. It did not test Recall Engine. The habit it supports works with any question source: when you miss a question, read why each option is right or wrong before you move on.
A routine for the weeks before your exam
- Generate SBAs or MCQs from each lecture you will be examined on.
- Answer them without your notes open. A guess you get right hides a weak topic.
- Open Weakness Pack and start with the lectures at the top of the list.
- Read the weak areas first. Then answer the corrective questions and read every explanation.
- Later on, answer fresh questions on the same lecture. A topic that keeps showing up is still weak.
What a Weakness Pack does not do
- It works from the questions you answered on your own uploaded lectures. Questions you missed outside your lectures do not feed it.
- It cannot see a topic you have not been tested on. Untested topics stay invisible to it.
- It does not mix lectures. Each pack covers one lecture so its page references stay correct.
- It does not read the whole lecture. It reads the pages your mistakes cite.
- It does not diagnose why you got a question wrong. It names the confusion it can see.
- It does not predict your exam mark or promise a higher score.
- It is a study aid and not medical advice.
FAQs
How does Recall Engine know which topics I am weak in?
It reads the questions you answered wrong on your own lectures. Each miss carries its topic and the lecture pages it came from. Topics you miss more often rank first.
How much does a Weakness Pack cost?
6 credits per pack. The price is flat. If a generation fails, you are not charged. Credits are taken only after a finished set is saved to your account. A run that does not finish costs nothing.
Which plans include Weakness Packs?
Weakness Packs come with Recall Plus and Recall Max. Accounts without one of these get a trial pack paid with their credits.
Can one pack cover all my lectures?
No. Each pack covers one lecture so its page references match the right file. You can start packs for up to 5 lectures in one click.
I have answered questions but see no weak spots. Why?
A pack is built from the questions you missed in a saved lecture's sets. There is nothing to build from while every answer so far is right. The same holds while none of your misses come from a lecture.
